Before anyone called you by name, God already knew you. Before people had opinions about you, God had already placed value on your life. Before your story began on earth, your purpose was already known in heaven.
This means your life is not random. You are not an accident. You are not here by mistake. You may have gone through painful seasons, confusing delays, rejection, disappointment, or moments where you wondered if your life truly mattered, but none of those things can cancel what God has spoken over you.
God saw you before the world saw you. He knew your weaknesses, your fears, your tears, your dreams, your battles, and your future. Still, He chose to give your life meaning. Still, He placed purpose inside you. Still, He has not given up on you.
God Called Jeremiah Before He Felt Ready
Jeremiah was young when God called him. He did not feel prepared for the assignment God placed before him. When God told him that he had been appointed as a prophet, Jeremiah did what many of us often do. He looked at his limitations first.
**Jeremiah 1:6**
“Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.”
Jeremiah felt too young. He felt unable to speak. He felt unqualified. He saw what he lacked, but God saw what He had already placed inside him.
God did not choose Jeremiah because Jeremiah felt confident. God chose him because His hand was upon his life. Jeremiah’s purpose did not depend on his age, background, confidence, or personal ability. It depended on the God who called him.
God answered Jeremiah with courage and reassurance.
**Jeremiah 1:7-8**
“Say not, I am a child… Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.”
God was telling Jeremiah, “Do not define yourself by what you feel. Do not limit yourself by what you lack. Do not fear people more than you trust Me. I am with you.”
This story speaks directly to anyone who feels unready, unqualified, delayed, overlooked, or unsure of what the future holds. You may feel like Jeremiah. You may look at your life and say, “Lord, I am not strong enough. I do not know enough. I have failed before. I am too late. I am too broken. I am too ordinary.”
But God does not call people based only on how they see themselves. He calls people according to what He has placed inside them.
Your weakness does not frighten God. Your past does not confuse Him. Your fear does not disqualify you. Your delay does not mean your purpose has expired.
Jeremiah’s story reminds us that God can call someone before they feel ready, guide them while they are still learning, and strengthen them while they are still afraid.
Today’s Word: Your Life Still Has Purpose
There are seasons in life when you may begin to question your worth. Maybe things have not happened the way you hoped. Maybe doors you prayed for did not open. Maybe people you trusted disappointed you. Maybe you have watched others move forward while you feel as though you are standing in the same place.
It can be painful to feel delayed. It can be discouraging to keep trying and not see results. It can be heavy to carry dreams in your heart while your reality looks nothing like what you expected.
But today, God wants you to remember this: delay is not the same as denial, and silence is not the same as absence.
God is still working.
Sometimes He works in visible ways, and sometimes He works quietly beneath the surface. Like a seed planted in the ground, you may feel hidden, but hidden does not mean forgotten. A seed does not grow because people are watching it. It grows because life is working inside it.
In the same way, God may be building strength in you privately. He may be healing your heart. He may be teaching you patience. He may be removing wrong connections. He may be preparing you for a door that your present version is still growing into.
Your current season is not wasted.
The pain you survived can become wisdom. The rejection you endured can become strength. The waiting you are walking through can become preparation. The tears you cried can become part of the testimony God will use to encourage someone else.
You are still becoming. You are still growing. You are still held by God.
Maybe you have had moments where you smiled in front of others but felt tired inside. You kept saying, “I am fine,” but deep down you were wondering when things would finally change.
Perhaps you have applied for jobs and received no response. You have prayed over your family, your health, your finances, your relationships, or your future, but the answers seemed slow. You have watched people celebrate things you are still waiting for, and although you were happy for them, part of your heart quietly asked, “Lord, when will it be my turn?”
Maybe you have been misunderstood. Maybe people judged you without knowing the battles you were fighting. Maybe someone made you feel small, unwanted, or not good enough. Maybe you started believing that your life had no special meaning because of what you went through.
But God sees the full story.
He saw the nights you cried quietly. He saw the times you kept going when giving up would have been easier. He saw how hard you tried. He saw how much you carried. He saw the prayers you whispered when you had no strength to explain yourself to anyone.
And He is still saying, “I knew you before you were born. I have not forgotten you. I still have a plan for your life.”
Do not measure your worth by the season you are in. Winter does not mean the tree is dead. Sometimes it only means roots are deepening where no one can see.
Your life may not look finished today, but God is not finished with you.
God Can Use You Even When You Feel Weak
One of the most beautiful truths in the Bible is that God often uses people who feel unqualified.
Moses felt unable to speak well, yet God used him to lead His people. Gideon felt weak and insignificant, yet God called him a mighty man of valor. David was overlooked by his own family, yet God chose him to be king. Esther was an orphan, yet God positioned her to save a nation. Peter denied Jesus, yet God restored him and used him boldly.
God does not need perfect people to fulfill His purpose. He needs willing hearts.
You may not have all the answers. You may not feel bold every day. You may still be healing. You may still be learning. You may still be trying to understand why certain things happened the way they did.
But God can still use your life.
He can use your kindness. He can use your testimony. He can use your patience. He can use your work. He can use your voice. He can use your story. He can use the very areas where you once felt ashamed and turn them into places of strength.
**Philippians 1:6**
“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
The God who began the work in you is faithful enough to complete it. Your story is not over because you faced difficulty. Your calling is not cancelled because you made mistakes. Your future is not destroyed because one season was painful.
God is still able to bring beauty out of your life.

You may not fully understand what God is doing in your life right now, but you can trust that He sees the bigger picture. Being appointed does not always mean life will be easy. Jeremiah still faced challenges, opposition, and hard days. But being appointed means you do not walk alone.
God goes with you.
God strengthens you.
God guides you.
God opens the right doors at the right time.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for knowing me before I was born. Thank You for creating me with purpose and for loving me even in the seasons when I struggle to love myself.
Lord, when I feel forgotten, remind me that You still see me. When I feel delayed, remind me that Your timing is perfect. When I feel unqualified, remind me that You are my strength.
Heal every wound caused by rejection, disappointment, comparison, fear, and failure. Remove every lie that has made me believe my life does not matter. Help me to see myself the way You see me.
