Moses and the Burning Bush
Moses was not standing in a palace when God called him. He was not surrounded by honor, applause, or people who believed in him. He was in the wilderness, taking care of sheep, living a quiet life far away from the place where he had once been known.
Moses had a past. He had made mistakes. He had run away from Egypt. He may have thought that the powerful part of his life was behind him. Maybe he thought God could use someone else, someone stronger, someone more confident, someone with a cleaner story.
But one ordinary day, while Moses was in the wilderness, God met him in an extraordinary way. He saw a bush that was burning with fire, yet it was not being consumed. When Moses turned aside to look, God called him by name.
**Exodus 3:4** says, **“God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’”**
That moment reminds us that God knows exactly where we are. He knows our name. He knows our location. He knows our fears, questions, weaknesses, regrets, and silent tears. Moses may have been hidden from people, but he was never hidden from God.
God told Moses that He had seen the suffering of His people in Egypt. He had heard their cry. He knew their pain, and He was coming down to rescue them. Then God gave Moses an assignment: go back to Egypt and lead His people out of slavery.
Moses was afraid. He did not feel qualified. He asked in **Exodus 3:11**, **“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”**
God did not answer Moses by saying, “You are strong enough.” He did not say, “You are brave enough.” He did not say, “You have everything it takes.” Instead, God gave Moses the answer that mattered most.
**Exodus 3:12** says, **“I will be with you.”**
That was the promise. God’s presence was the confidence Moses needed.
Then Moses asked God what name he should give to the Israelites, and God answered in **Exodus 3:14**, **“I AM WHO I AM.”**
This name reveals that God is eternal, present, faithful, complete, and unchanging. He is not trying to become powerful. He is powerful. He is not trying to become faithful. He is faithful. He is not trying to become present. He is present. He is not limited by time, fear, weakness, delay, sickness, lack, rejection, disappointment, or human opinion.
He is the God who was, the God who is, and the God who will always be.
Today’s Encouragement: God Has Not Forgotten You
Beloved, maybe today you feel like Moses in the wilderness. You may be in a season that feels quiet, hidden, or uncertain. You may be wondering whether anything meaningful is still ahead of you. You may be asking God, “Can You still use me? Can You still help me? Can You still restore me? Can You still make a way for me?”
The answer is yes.
The Great I AM is still with you.
The wilderness is not always a place of punishment. Sometimes it is the place where God prepares you. Sometimes it is the place where God removes noise so you can hear His voice clearly. Sometimes it is the place where God shows you that your help does not come from people, positions, money, or perfect circumstances. Your help comes from Him.
**Psalm 46:1** says, **“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”**
That means God is not far away from your pain. He is not absent from your waiting season. He is not ignoring your prayers. He is present. He is near. He is working even when you cannot see the full picture yet.
Life can change quickly. People can change. Plans can change. Finances can change. Relationships can change. Health can change. Doors can open and close. But God remains the same.
**Hebrews 13:8** says, **“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”**
When everything around you feels unstable, hold on to the One who does not change.
When you are weak, He says, “I AM your strength.” When you are afraid, He says, “I AM your courage.” When you are confused, He says, “I AM your wisdom.” When you are lonely, He says, “I AM with you.” When you are in need, He says, “I AM your provider.” When you are broken, He says, “I AM your healer.” When you are tired, He says, “I AM your rest.” When you feel lost, He says, “I AM your guide.”
God did not tell Moses to go because Moses had no fear. He told him to go because His presence would go with him. That is the same truth you can carry today. You do not need to have everything figured out before you trust God. You do not need to feel strong before you keep going. You do not need to understand every detail before you believe that God is still working.
His presence is enough for today.
When You Feel Like You Are in the Wilderness
Maybe you are reading this while carrying things you cannot easily explain. You wake up and try to be strong, but deep inside, you are tired. You smile when people ask how you are, but your heart is heavy. You keep doing what needs to be done, but there are moments when you wonder how much longer you can keep going.
Maybe you have prayed about the same issue for a long time. You have asked God for healing, direction, restoration, provision, peace, or a breakthrough. You have waited. You have hoped. You have tried to encourage yourself, but some days still feel hard.
Maybe your wilderness looks like financial pressure. Maybe it looks like a relationship that has wounded you. Maybe it looks like disappointment after disappointment. Maybe it looks like feeling behind in life. Maybe it looks like trying your best but still not seeing the results you expected.
But take heart. The wilderness is not the end of your story.
Moses met God in the wilderness. That means your current season can still become holy ground. The place where you feel forgotten can become the place where God reminds you that He has seen you. The place where you feel weak can become the place where God reveals His strength. The place where you feel unqualified can become the place where God shows you that His calling is greater than your fear.
Do not measure God’s faithfulness by how quiet your season looks. Seeds grow quietly before they break through the ground. Healing often begins quietly before it becomes visible. Strength is often built privately before it is seen publicly. God is not inactive just because life looks silent.
He is still the Great I AM.
Word of the Day
**Presence**
God’s presence is the greatest assurance you can have. You may not know every answer. You may not see every step. You may not understand why some things have taken longer than expected. But if God is with you, you are not abandoned.
The presence of God does not always remove the process, but it gives you strength to walk through it. God did not remove Moses from the assignment. He promised to go with him. In the same way, God may not remove every challenge immediately, but He will not leave you to face it alone.
Today, hold on to this truth: you are not walking by yourself. The Great I AM is with you.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the Great I AM. Thank You because You are present, faithful, powerful, and unchanging. Thank You because You see me even in the seasons where I feel hidden, tired, delayed, or unsure.
Lord, when I feel weak, be my strength. When I feel afraid, be my courage. When I feel confused, be my wisdom. When I feel anxious, be my peace. When I feel alone, remind me that You are near. When I feel empty, fill me again with hope.
Help me to trust You like Moses had to trust You. Teach me to depend on Your presence more than my own understanding. Give me faith to believe that my wilderness is not wasted. Give me patience while You prepare me, courage while You lead me, and peace while You work things out in Your perfect timing.
Father, I surrender my worries, my unanswered questions, my fears, and my future into Your hands. I believe that You are still able to make a way. I believe that You are still speaking. I believe that You are still with me.

You may feel weak, but you are not alone. You may feel delayed, but you are not denied. You may feel hidden, but you are not forgotten. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you know the One who holds tomorrow.
Walk into this day with hope. The Great I AM is with you, and His presence is enough.
